Organisational Design 2020

Organisational design is fundamental to the success of any organisation regardless of size. A feature Orbit programmes are fully equipped to accommodate.

We are not restrained by conventional thinking we support organisational change and free-flowing, agile and productive organisations. Changing mindsets, improving commercial awareness and creating a cultural evolution.

If you live and breathe your culture, values, and behaviours; trust your stakeholders; put faith in your team; communicate your strategy and allow people to grow, success will follow.

Covid 19 and the economic reaction has tested the resilience of all Leaders. They are experiencing a ‘Black Swan’ moment , the ‘unknown unknowns’  and need to demonstrate greater agility.

Successful leaders will have resisted the command and control management style.  Remote meetings and successful remote working require a change of engagement, different social skills and etiquette.

Teams and people respond best to empathy, understanding, and subtle management - this is not a skill all leaders posses.

‘Pivoting’ has been a widely used term  in 2020, the transformation enforced by COVID 19  has created rapid change as organisations adopt remote, flexible, on line working.

Previous culture and behaviours have been radically altered and as a result 30% of organisations in the UK are likely to embed flexible remote working.

Recent engagement surveys provide unreliable data about the change required in 2020.

Organisations are mostly in the recovery phase, it will take until mid 2021 to be able to identify meaningful behaviours.

Without acknowledging the importance of  culture and people successful organisational transformation will fail.

There is a realisation that the main barriers to change centre around People and Culture. When they are combined with new digital technologies or processes (such as remote working) the ambition to achieve a modern, intelligent and agile workplace is increasingly complex.

Successful transformation requires the integration of Strategy ,People, Process, systems, culture and technology. Organisations that plan will prosper.

Communication is the heart of successful change, it is the hub of the organisation.

A clear understanding of your Organisational DNA, will enable the organisation to develop its agility.

Internal communication is key and requires integration of digital tools and human capabilities. Communication  should be proactive, open, engaging and provide recognition and reward.

Awareness and understanding of Diversity and Inclusion is critical and provides a competitive advantage and is a key enabler for growth and talent retention.

Yet progress has been slow and companies are still uncertain about how they can most effectively incorporate Diversity and Inclusion to support their  goals.

There is an increasing link between organisational success and Diversity and Inclusion.

Workplace mental health and wellness are as vital for a successful, productive and resilient workforce.

Presenteeism and absence have a dramatic effect on the workplace.

Organisations need to be aware of their employees' mental health, be proactive and have robust protocols in place.
